Lately, I can't stay away from the pool. Silly, I know, but when it's hitting triple digits, I think it's safe to say, a day or many days, at the pools are highly acceptable. The heat in Las Vegas is different than what I'm used to, especially considering I drove in from Seattle where it's sunny all the time, not. It takes time for your skin and body to adjust to any weather change, and I'm definitely still adjusting to the heat.
As I've been visiting my pool more frequently, I decided to share some of the products I use to protect my skin and keep it looking beautiful. The best part is all of these products can be purchased from your local drug store. The first product I'd like to share isn't a shocker. I too agree the Gillette Venus Spa Breeze Disposable Razors are expensive, however, in my opinion, the Venus Spa razor collection is well worth the expense. They're the best razors and give the best shave. Ever since I started using them, my legs and underarms are smoother, never red or irritated, and never have ingrown hairs; just soft and beautiful. With that said, I've been using Vaseline's Intensive Care Coconut Radiant body lotion after every shower for the last month. I can see and feel a difference in my skin. It smells amazing, absorbs fast for a non-greasy feel, and helps give my skin a healthy glow.
A product new to me that I recently tried was Not Your Mothers Beach Babe shampoo and conditioner. After the first use, I noticed my hair had slight waves throughout. After using the product a few times, my hair had noticeably more defined beach waves. I suggest giving this product a try if you're looking for a natural wavy look. Another product that is new to me has taking me years to find. A lasting and effective lip balm. I finally found Burt's Bee's hydrating lip balm with coconut and pear, and let me tell you, it is the bee's knee's. My lips are never dry or cracked, and the smell is delicious. It's almost as if this lip balm was made for those living in the desert.
What's in my beach tote? Well for starters, I don't have one, yet. Instead, I use my earth friendly Katy Perry California Dreams Tour canvas bag. Many of my friends back in Seattle can vouch for me when I say I'm a huge fan. A big enough fan to pay VIP to see her in concert and receive this canvas bag full of goodies as a gift. It's one of my favorite concert souvenirs and for now, it's my go-to beach bag.
Inside my canvas bag are my poolside essentials for cleaning my face, protecting my skin from the sun, exercising, and jamming to my favorite tunes. When it comes to my face, it's possible I could be addicted to Neutrogena's makeup remover cleansing towelettes. They gently remove sweat, dirt, and makeup without the need to rinse. I prefer the handy bag-size pack; makes them an easy grab. You can never have enough sunscreen, so I bring at least three different SPF levels whenever a day in the sun is on my day's agenda. We've all heard it time and time again, protecting our skin while being in the sun is highly valuable, and we shouldn't take that lightly.
Another important item to have whether you're going to the pool or beach is sunglasses and goggles. I don't know about you, but I hate squinting in the sun. I'd rather have raccoons eyes from protecting my eyes wearing sunglasses than have tan lines on my forehead from squinting, but that's me. It's also important to protect your eyes from chlorine and salt water, so a pair of good quality goggles come in handy.
Lastly, you can't go to the pool or beach without music, at least in my book. My favorite summer by the water essential would definitely have to be my portable stereo speaker. A book would normally be on my list, but lately, I've been swimming, tanning, and enjoying the water with friends and family. Oh, and I think I should point out the obvious summer list essential; water. Drinking water is a must-have, especially for a long day containing fun in the sun. A day in the sun can be exhausting and dehydrating, so take my advice and stay hydrated. Just think, the longer you're hydrated, the longer you can stay out and have fun. As time goes on, I'm sure new products will make my summer essentials list but for now, these products are my ultimate go-to's.
